July 16th, Nanaimo Winemakers will once again host their Summer Social Competition, BBQ and sausage making event open to club members and their guests. The event organizer and coordinator is Cindy Scott who has added a new twist this year. This year’s BBQ, will feature a bit of fun – blind tasting/judging of member’s wines.
The usual sharing table will be replaced with “The Summer Social Winemaker Competition” table. Wines that have been entered will be set out on the competition table.This will be a blind tasting with no winemaker identification on the bottles. You may taste one, two or all wines – the choice is yours. Everyone attending the BBQ will receive ONE ballot to vote for their favorite wine. Ballots will be tallied at 5:30 pm and the winner announced. The new Summer Social trophy will be awarded.

2nd Place: John Znider 2011 Super Tuscan (Cabernet Sauvignon/Sangiovese Blend)
3rd Place: Doug Morrison 2015 Sauvignon Blanc
Sausage Making
Franco Sartor is again the organizer of the morning sausage making event which provides the main course for the evening BBQ. For those of you interested in making sausage the morning of the BBQ, please email Franco by Sunday July 9th to place your order.
Cost: $4.00 per pound – maximum order is 10lbs
Start time: 9:00am at the hall
Bring: gloves for handling meat, apron, packaging to take home your sausage and your own spicing if you wish.
